Corner Bakery Cafe will open a new restaurant in Scottsdale on Dec. 8.

The new location, at 15505 N. Scottsdale Road, marks the third store for the Dallas-based chain, whose menu includes breakfast scrambles, paninis, sandwiches, soups, salads, pastas and sweets.

It is the chain’s third in the Phoenix area. Corner Bakery Cafe operates stores at the Arizona Center in downtown Phoenix and in Peoria, a stone’s throw from the Peoria Sports Complex.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to serve guests with our first cafe in Scottsdale,” said franchise partner David Long of Blue Mountain Cafes. “We are confident many in the area will soon make this location their go-to choice whenever they crave fresh, flavorful food.”

The Scottsdale cafe marks the first from franchise group Blue Mountain Cafes, which inked a deal with Corner Bakery a year ago to aggressively expand the chain’s presence in Phoenix. Blue Mountain plans to open up to 15 cafes within the next seven years.

Another Corner Bakery is under development at the Tempe Gateway Center with a projected opening date of early 2015.

Corner Bakery competes against similar concepts such as Scottsdale-based Wildflower Bread Co. and Paradise Bakery Cafe, which is owned by the king of the bakery sector, Panera Bread (Nasdaq: PNRA).

Corner Bakery’s franchise fee is $25,000. Bakeries generate in excess of $4.3 billion in annual U.S. sales, according to Franchise Direct.

The newest Corner Bakery Cafe marks the third in the Phoenix market and the first owned by experienced franchise group Blue Mountain Cafes. The group plans to develop up to 15 cafes over the next seven years in the greater Phoenix area, with the second expected to open at the Tempe Gateway Center early 2015.
