Scottsdale Jean Company is closing

A Scottsdale company that has outfitted customers in designer jeans for the past 10 years is shutting its doors.

Scottsdale Jean Company, known for offering more than 60 brands of designer jeans and clothing, is slated to close in mid-May.

“It’s been a good run,” said Steven Koeppel, who established the business with his wife, Laura, in 2005. “It’s time to move on.”

Since 2012, the store, an 8,000-square-foot space, has been located at the Shops at Gainey Village, at Scottsdale and Doubletree Ranch roads.

Koeppel, who had been wanting to sell the business, sold his lease to an undisclosed high-end grocer and is moving back to Long Island, where the couple previously lived, he said.

All merchandise — clothing, furniture and fixtures — must be liquidated by mid-May, so the boutique is holding a clearance sale with discounts of up to 80 percent off, he said.

Representatives at Main Street Real Estate Advisors, a Scottsdale company that manages the Shops at Gainey Village, said the company couldn’t comment about potential leasing arrangements for the space.
