New in Phoenix retail: Scottsdale Quarter eateries, more

Metro Phoenix residents have more choices for eating out, buying merchandise and stay-cations as retailers open new locations and expand their services.

Here’s a look.

– A new Applebee’s is slated to open May 18 in west Phoenix. The restaurant, whose manager is Lorin Garcia, is privately owned and operated by RMH Franchise Corp., an Applebee’s franchisee that is based in Atlanta and has about 140 locations.

The Phoenix location, at 75th Avenue and Thomas Road, will feature wall images of local sports teams, area police and firefighters. It joins 18 other metro Phoenix locations. Details: applebees.com.

Wingstop is expanding. The chain, which has 750 locations around the world, recently opened a new restaurant at 1515 N. Seventh Ave., Phoenix. The location joins 13 other metro Phoenix location. Five other locations are in Tucson and one is in Yuma. Details: wingstop.com.

Starwood has opened its first property in Mesa and sixth in metro Phoenix. The Sheraton Mesa Hotel at Wrigleyville West has 180 guestrooms, 51 junior suites, and eight VIP Suites. It features a resort style pool with a swim up bar, three restaurants and meeting spaces.

Near Rio Salado Parkway and Dobson Road, it’s between the Chicago Cubs’ spring training park and Riverview Park in an area that’s becoming known as Wrigleyville West. Details: sheratonmesa.com.

AGood Feet store has opened at Village at Arrowhead Shopping Center, Loop 101 and 67th Avenue, Glendale. The 1,200-square-foot store, the third opened in the last two years by owner Eric Kaplan, offers 250 over-the-counter arch supports in a variety of sizes and flexibilities. Scottsdale Quarter, Scottsdale Road and Greenway-Hayden Parkway, has two new stores. One is Vince, an apparel store sells women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, handbags and kid’s clothing. The store, which has 2,000 square feet, is the first in Arizona. The chain has more than 30 stores in the United States and locations in Japan and Turkey.

The other is Joie, a women’s apparel show that sells clothing, accessories and shoes. Besides the Scottsdale stores, the chain has 11 other stores that are in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. Details: vince.com, joie.com, scottsdalequarter.com.

Kohl’s now offers its buy online-pick up in store shopping service nationwide. Customers shopping at kohls.com on their desktops or laptops can choose the option via the product page. The service will be roll out to tablets and mobile phones later this year, the company says. Stores will have a designated “Pick up in store” parking spot for customers, who must pick up their merchandise at the customer service desk (for non-jewelry items) or at the fine jewelry counter.
