Scottsdale rallies around US Women’s World Cup team

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — We’ve got Women’s World Cup fever!

Even the iconic and historic Old Town Scottsdale Cowboy is ready — sharing his U.S. Women’s National Team spirit. The famous cowboy will sport his fashionable USA scarf all day in hopes of getting locals excited about the matchup.

Team USA’s first game on Monday  raked in more than 3 million viewers. Clearly the hype is spreading throughout the nation.

Two players who grew up playing on Valley pitches, Sydney Leroux of Scottsdale and Julie Johnston of Mesa, will be representing Arizona while proudly wearing red, white and blue.‪

If the United States can grab three points in tonight’s match with Sweden, they will clinch a spot in the knockout rounds. The game begins tonight at 4 p.m. on FOX.
