Scottsdale ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ restaurant to close

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) – A Scottsdale restaurant that gained reality TV notoriety after an appearance on “Kitchen Nightmares” will soon close its doors.

Co-owner Amy Bouzaglo says she and husband Samy Bouzaglo are in final negotiations to sell the property.

But they are keeping the Amy’s Baking Company name.

Bouzaglo says she plans to focus on making desserts for a Phoenix-area restaurant group as well as online instructional cooking videos.

The couple drew outrage and ridicule on social media after being featured on a May 2013 episode of chef Gordon Ramsay’s “Kitchen Nightmares.

In the segment, they were seen yelling at unsatisfied customers and pocketing employees’ tips.

Bouzaglo says the decision to sell has nothing to do with lingering publicity from the show.

She says they also had issues with the building’s former landlord.
