Zoës Kitchen opening second Scottsdale restaurant

Fast-casual chain Zoës Kitchen is bringing its healthy Mediterranean fare to a second Scottsdale location.

The new branch opens Thursday, July 30, on Scottsdale Road north of Thunderbird Road. To celebrate, Zoës is giving away 500 meals and a chance to win free food for a year, all at the new restaurant. Visit Zoës’ Facebook page (search “Zoës Kitchen”) to register for freebies through July 30.

Showcasing the modern rush toward fresh ingredients, unprocessed foods and diet options including gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan, Zoës’ restaurants don’t even have fast-food staples like fryers or microwaves.

The menu focuses on clean flavors. Signatures include classic, red pepper or basil hummus ($4.99-$6.79); quinoa-feta-veggie salad ($6.99); tuna-stuffed pita with capers ($7.19); and kabobs made with chicken, steak, shrimp, salmon or all veggie ($8.79-$11.69).

And something special for Scottsdale: This store will offer beer and wine.

This is the company’s fifth Valley branch and one of 150-plus locations nationwide. In Arizona, Zoës has two locations in Phoenix, one in Chandler and one in Scottsdale, at Scottsdale and Camelback roads.

Details: Zoës Kitchen, 14601 N. Scottsdale, Suite 701, Scottsdale. Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. Other locations at zoeskitchen.com.
