Scottsdale police investigating kidnapping, car theft involving young child

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Authorities are actively searching for a woman who stole a car with a 2-year-old girl inside.

Scottsdale police say the incident started around 8 p.m. Thursday when a man stopped at a Compass Bank near Scottsdale and Osborn roads to use an ATM.

When the man got out of the car, he left the vehicle running and the suspect jumped in.

Police say the vehicle and child were located in a Walmart parking lot near 38th Street and Thomas Road. 

Authorities say the suspect was gone by the time officers arrived.

Officials say the little girl was not harmed in the incident.

Police say there is no indication a weapon was used.
